Terms of use

These terms govern your access to and use of Compareist. Please read them before using the service.

Effective date: September 1, 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Compareist (“Compareist,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply to the Compareist website, comparison tools, accounts, public comparison pages, provider-request features, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to use the Service. If you use the Service for a company or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it to these Terms, and “you” includes that organization.

3. What Compareist provides

Compareist provides research, comparisons, recommendations, source links, pricing context, retailer destinations, and other decision-support information for products, software, services, and travel decisions. Some content is generated or summarized with artificial intelligence and may combine third-party sources, stored evidence, and information you provide.

The Service is informational. It does not sell the products or services being compared, guarantee that any option is suitable for you, or act as an agent, broker, fiduciary, travel advisor, or representative of a merchant or provider unless expressly stated.

4. Accuracy, AI, prices, and availability

Comparisons may be incomplete, contain errors, or become outdated. AI-generated output can be inaccurate even when it appears confident. Prices, fees, taxes, availability, specifications, policies, travel conditions, and service coverage can change without notice. A listed price may exclude shipping, taxes, subscriptions, installation, destination fees, or other charges.

Research dates, source links, and uncertainty labels are provided to help you evaluate the information. Before purchasing, booking, signing a contract, or otherwise relying on a comparison, verify material details directly with the applicable merchant, provider, manufacturer, or official source. You remain responsible for your decisions and transactions.

5. High-stakes and excluded uses

Compareist is not a substitute for medical, legal, financial, investment, lending, insurance, tax, safety, or other regulated professional advice. The Service is not designed to make eligibility, credit, employment, housing, insurance, medical, or other decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Do not use the Service for emergencies or where an error could reasonably cause death, personal injury, or substantial property or financial harm. Automotive comparisons are outside the current Service scope.

6. Accounts and security

Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate information, protect your password and authentication credentials, and promptly notify us at support@compareist.com if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account to the extent permitted by law. We may require verification, reject a registration, or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect the Service or its users.

7. Your submissions

You may submit prompts, priorities, organization or project details, coarse location labels, URLs, feedback, and provider-request information (“Submissions”). You retain any rights you have in your Submissions. You grant Compareist a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, transmit, modify, and use Submissions only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, and provide the Service, comply with law, and enforce these Terms.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to provide each Submission and that it does not violate law, another person’s rights, or a duty of confidentiality. Do not submit sensitive personal information, trade secrets, payment-card data, government identifiers, protected health information, or information you are not authorized to share.

8. Private sessions and public content

A private comparison session does not become public automatically. Compareist may use privacy-protective aggregate demand signals to identify topics worth researching, but public comparison pages are separately created or reviewed. Public pages, catalog facts, and editorial content may be corrected, updated, archived, or removed at any time.

9. Acceptable use

You may not, and may not help another person to:

  • use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive activity;
  • access another person’s account, private session, lead information, or nonpublic systems without authorization;
  • bypass rate limits, access controls, robots directives, or other technical safeguards;
  • probe, scan, disrupt, overload, introduce malware into, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure;
  • scrape, crawl, copy, or extract the Service at a scale or in a manner that creates unreasonable load or violates applicable law;
  • reverse engineer or attempt to discover nonpublic source code, models, prompts, security controls, or proprietary methods, except where applicable law expressly permits it;
  • impersonate another person, submit false provider requests, or send spam or unwanted communications; or
  • use Service output to train a competing model or build a competing comparison database without our written permission.

10. Commercial relationships and provider requests

Compareist may receive compensation when you click certain links, purchase from a retailer, sign up for a service, or submit a provider request. Paid or commission-earning links are disclosed near the relevant action. Commercial relationships do not determine comparison facts, option order, or recommendations.

If you submit a provider request, the form identifies the intended recipient or recipients and asks for your consent. A provider is an independent third party. Compareist does not guarantee that a provider will respond, accept your request, quote a particular price, or perform services satisfactorily. Any transaction or contract is between you and that provider.

11. Third-party services and links

The Service may link to or interoperate with third-party websites, merchants, providers, maps, research sources, and platforms. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, security, availability, policies, products, or services. A link does not imply endorsement of every statement or offering on the destination. Your use of a third party is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

12. Compareist intellectual property

The Service—including its software, design, branding, interfaces, selection and arrangement of content, and proprietary research and ranking methods—is owned by Compareist or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, Compareist grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your personal or internal business decision-making. No other rights are granted.

Product names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply sponsorship or endorsement. If you provide feedback, you authorize us to use it without restriction or compensation, provided we do not identify you publicly without permission.

13. Service changes, suspension, and termination

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, content, or the Service. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure, misuse the Service, or if necessary to protect users, third parties, or infrastructure. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms.

14. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” COMPAREIST DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, AND RESULTS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY CONTENT OR RECOMMENDATION WILL BE COMPLETE, CURRENT, OR SUITABLE FOR YOU. Some jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty exclusions, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

15. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COMPAREIST AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID COMPAREIST FOR THE SERVICE DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

These limits do not apply where prohibited by law or to liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for fraud or willful misconduct. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights.

16. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, if you use the Service on behalf of a business, that business will defend and indemnify Compareist from third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from its unlawful use of the Service, its Submissions, or its material breach of these Terms. This section does not apply to individual consumers to the extent prohibited by applicable law.

17. Governing law and disputes

Before filing a claim, you and Compareist agree to make a good-faith effort to resolve the dispute informally by sending a written notice describing the issue and requested resolution to support@compareist.com. If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days, either party may pursue available remedies in a court with lawful jurisdiction. Applicable law will govern without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except that mandatory consumer protections in your place of residence remain unaffected.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the updated version and change the effective date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice when required by law. Your continued use after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance, except where applicable law requires another form of consent.

19. General terms

If any provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement regarding the Service and supersede prior agreements about it.
